1. What is DATS and what does it offer?
DATS is a highly specialist and comprehensive diagnostic, assessment and intervention service for individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD), Learning Disabilities and co-occurring conditions. See “What We Offer” for further detail.
We also run a service called Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health and offer therapy to people with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and anger problems
2. I have read the information on your website and would like to go ahead. What happens next?
Please contact us and let us know what service you are interested in and we will send you a set of Screen Questionnaires to get a better understanding of your child, young person or you as an adult. If you are concerned about more than one neurodevelopmental condition, please let us know. We can send out additional Screen Questionnaires (for ADHD, depression and anxiety for example).
Once we receive all of your completed Screen Questionnaires back, they will be scored and interpreted by our clinicians. Previous clinic reports and school reports are always very valuable to gain a full picture. All Questionnaires and reports should be sent back electronically.
Depending on what the Questionnaires tell us, a second clinician may be identified to join the assessment or provide a service. This might be a psychiatrist, a speech and language therapist, psychologist, a mental health specialist, a neurodevelopmental specialist, an educational psychologist or an occupational therapist for example. Once this has been done, you will be offered an appointment. After the appointment, you will be provided with a full report, including management strategies and recommendations, usually within a week to ten days.
3. What is a multi-disciplinary assessment and how much will it cost?
The full neuro-developmental assessment involves two clinicians working simultaneously on the day; one with the child/young person/adult and parent (or partner/family member) obtaining a detailed developmental history and current difficulties - and the other assessing the child/young person/adult. Both will need to stay in clinic for about 2.5 to 3 hours and therefore we recommend they bring a snack and a drink. The price for this clinic is £1,450. Please note that if the screen questionnaires are indicative of a co-occurring neurodevelopmental condition we will have to assess both. This will incur a further charge of £ 400. See “Assessment and Diagnosis” for further detail.
4. What if I have further questions?
Please review our website and if you still have further questions, kindly fill in the form on the Contact Us page on our website and we will get in touch with you as soon as we can.
